THE STORY OF THE DANCING LATVIAN | STĀSTS PAR DEJOJOŠO LATVIETI

“The Story of the Dancing Latvian” is a celebration of Latvia’s spirit through the symbol of dance — a cycle of motion and life. The concert features symphonic dances by Latvian composers and visual art by -8, uniting music, movement, and national soul.

The video projections I created especially for this concert were meant to make the audience feel as if they themselves are in motion, in dance. At times I invite them to surrender to dizzying pirouettes, at others to glide through a gentle waltz — to dance through dreamlike Latvian landscapes imagined and brought to life through the power of modern technology.

To create several dozen minutes of generative video, it was first necessary to generate hundreds of static keyframes, and then repeatedly generate short video fragments from each of them, constantly refining the concept and waiting for results. In total, I formulated and reformulated prompts for various artificial intelligence tools at least around 1,200 times, often encountering errors, unusable outputs, frustration, and near abandonment, before the work was finally brought to completion. And this does not even include the subsequent video editing, adaptation, and other post-production processes.
